Access Screener

Staff a statewide access line for system entry into the AMHD. Provide screening for mental health needs, crisis support, schedules assessments based on immediacy of needs, and dispatches crisis outreach.
MQ: Bachelors in nursing, social work or other human services field; Diploma RN (may qualify depending on experience) plus 1 year experience working with SPMI, or 1 year experience with crisis line as a volunteer or paid staff, or 1 year experience in mental health.

AMHD Forensic Chief

Coordinates a statewide system of forensic services for adults with severe and persistent mental illness. These forensic services include the provision of court ordered examinations for the Judiciary and the establishment of a forensic examiner certification process.
MQ: Ph.D. or Psy.D. in clinical psychology. Minimum of 5 years of experience in field of forensic mental health, preferably in community-based settings and 5 years of supervisory and/or management responsibilities in a mental health setting.

AMHD Psychiatry Chief

Participates in the overall planning, implementing, coordinating, and monitoring of clinical programs and service effectiveness of key services and program areas to assure the availability of a variety of care, treatment and related rehabilitation options as it relates to psychiatric services, and its integration into the continuum of care, to the seriously mentally ill. This position supervises AMHD’s clinical operations section and serves as the Medical Director for AMHD.
MQ: MD or DO degree, current Hawaii State License in good standing, certificate of completion of psychiatric residency and current DEA Certificate. 4 years of experience in clinical psychiatry including a minimum of 2 years of experience in community mental health setting.

Our offices are located on all the major islands, in both city and rural locations. We provide comprehensive, recovery-based treatment services to individuals with severe and persistent mental illness. Our psychiatrists are considered the leaders of the recovery team and provide assessments and psychopharmacological treatment. We have a broad array of additional services available including case management, housing, ACT teams, supported employment, psychosocial rehabilitation programs, substance abuse treatment, and a program evaluation research department. Hawaii State Hospital Associate Administrator, Quality Management

Hawaii State Hospital is a Joint Commission accredited facility, licensed for 202
inpatient and 22 special residential beds providing psychiatric inpatient and community
residential services for adults with severe and persistent mental illness. This position will
assist in hospital leadership and have specific accountability for the planning, directing,
integrating, and coordinating Performance Improvement/Risk Management, Medical
Records, Staff Development and Training, Medical Library, Standards and Compliance,
Utilization Management, hospital-wide policies and procedures, and all licensing and
accreditation activities. This position is a critical member of the hospital Leadership
team and the position will be asked to assume leadership, community liaison, and public
information activities, in coordination with the Administrator. This is a non-civil service exempt position.
MQ: Applicants must be licensed in accordance
with the Hawaii Revised Statutes as applicable to the discipline of the incumbent.
Graduate of an approved accredited school with a Bachelor’s Degree in a clinical
program related to the provision of a mental health services and licensed to practice in
the State of Hawaii in that field. An equivalent combination of specialized experience
may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.

Hawaii State Hospital Clinical Safety Coordinator

This position is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, evaluating and reviewing
a program for achieving a vision of a safe work environment for staff and a therapeutic
environment for patients. The Clinical Safety Program is an integral part of the
hospital’s commitment to protecting staff and patients from the harm posed when
therapeutic boundaries are crossed and conflicting working relationships surface as a
result.
MQ: Licensure in accordance with Hawaii Revised Statutes
as applicable to the discipline of the incumbent. Recommended qualifications: Master’s
Degree in a clinical discipline, healthcare administration, counseling, risk management
or Bachelor’s Degree in a clinical program related to the provision of mental health
services; at least five years experience providing mental health services or treatment to
a forensic population/adult mental health inpatient hospital setting.
